The Bo-Pi-Liao Historic Block lies within Kangding Road, Guangzhou Street and Kunming Street near the Longshan Temple in the Wanhua District. The whole block is preserved to keep intact the streets and a wide range of traditional housing established in the Qing dynasty (1683 – 1895), the facades revamped during the Japanese colonial period, as well as the more updated visage marking the Retrocession of Taiwan. As the architecture bears witness to the development of Wanhua with many buildings housing a wealth of local culture and historic significance, the block also serves as an ideal learning ground for those who would like to venture deeper into the past of the city.
